Food Safety Training and Certification

FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) is mandatory in India to build a culture of self-compliance and ensure that trained professionals oversee food safety standards as per FSSAI.

Under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Act, 2006 (specifically under Section 16(3)(h)), FSSAI is legally required to ensure the training of persons involved in food businesses.

Who Needs the Certification?

1. Food Handlers & Managers: Anyone involved in manufacturing, packaging, catering, retailing, storing, canteens, transporting food, commercially serving food or in religious places where Bhog/Prasad are served.
2. Petty Operators: Street food vendors, milk vendors, meat shops, and small canteens.
3. Logistics & Delivery: Last-mile food delivery providers and small-scale transporters.
4. Hospitality & Institutions: Supervisors handling food in restaurants, hotels, and university/college hostels.
5. Any person who wants to enter into any food or food-related business can be a part of this program.
